Leaving on the Castles cruise September 1st from Basel. I just noted this information on another cruise line's web site...........................
"German Lock Workers On Strike
Lock keepers on the main German waterways (Main, Main-Danube Canal, Danube, Rhine and Moselle Rivers) have have extended rolling strikes beyond the initial timeframe and the impact may see some locks temporarily closed.
I realize that I am over a month away, but was wondering if this has been an ongoing situation, and if there are any thoughts as to how this may effect the Rhine should this continue for a long period of time.

My wife and I were on a Viking River Cruise from July 17 through July 31. The lock workers strike caused many problems for us, spending many hours on a bus, missing ports of call, boat receiving supplies, limiting time at many of the ports. It did not come close to turning out to be the vacation we dreamed of.
